Inflection or inflexion refers to a modification or marking of a word (or more precisely lexeme) so that it reflects grammatical (i.e. relational) information, such as grammatical gender, tense, person, etc. The concept of a "word" independent of the different inflections is called a lexeme, and the form of a word that is considered to not have any inflections is called a lemma.
