Inevitable
In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, Inevitables are magical constructs coming from Mechanus, the Outer Plane of Law.

Inevitables are built and programmed in Neumannus a factory-like city on a small gear. They are designed to enforce law and justice all across the plane: every type of inevitable has a well-defined aim and it will pursue his objective at every cost. In order to fulfill their task they use to ally themselves with other creatures or, if necessary, to sacrifice themselves.

When they complete their mission, they wander idling, looking for some other transgression of their programmation.

Unlike other constructs they could learn from their experience. If it generate a contradiction, they are called back on Mechanus to be re-programmed.
