Indiana, Pennsylvania

Indiana is a borough located in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 14,895. It is the county seat of Indiana County.{{GR|6}}.

For many years the major industry in Indiana, Pennsylvannia was coal mining, but the mines closed early in the 20th century, and the area still has economic difficulties. Its largest employer is Indiana University of Pennsylvania, the largest of the fourteen state-run universities. The borough currently promotes itself as the "Christmas Tree Capital of the World" due to the large number of Christmas tree farms in the surrounding area.
