Independent Film Channel
The Independent Film Channel (IFC), launched in September, 1994, is a premium digital cable channel dedicated to presenting independent films, unedited and commercial-free. It also features documentaries, award shows, and other programs related to independent film. It is owned by Rainbow Media. IFC's promotional slogan is "IFC - tv. uncut."

It features more obscure foreign and independent films than its competitor, Sundance Channel. IFC also has theme months, in which movies that share a genre get heavy rotation. June 2005 was "Pulp Indie" month, each October is "Indie Screams" month (independent horror films), etc.

Both IFC's General Manager and channel staffers maintain separate blogs at the channel's website that keep their fans involved and interactive with IFC's management by giving programming ideas and comments about the channel.

On June 17th, 2005 IFC opened IFC Center, a movie theater haven for independent film fans in New York.
