In These Times
In These Times is a biweekly magazine of news and opinion published in Chicago. It has a circulation of over 21,000 (2004). In These Times was established in 1971 as an attempt to create a Midwestern socialist newspaper in the tradition of Eugene Victor Debs' Appeal to Reason. Although the magazine no longer identifies itself explicitly with socialist politics many of its writers remain sympathatic to the tradition of democratic socialism. As a non-profit organization, In These Times is financed through subscriptions and donations.
