In Custody (movie)

Anita Desai's 1984 novel, In Custody, was adapted into the 1993 film Hifazaat / In Custody by Ismail Merchant in his directorial debut. Anita Desai co-wrote the screenplay with Shahrukh Husain. With this film, Merchant offers both an insightful interpretation of Desai?s novel, as well as brilliant performances by the noted actors Om Puri and Shashi Kapoor.
