Illinois State Route 171
Illinois State Route 171 is a four-lane state road that travels from Illinois State Route 72 (Higgins Road) near the Chicago/Park Ridge border south to U.S. Highway 6 in Joliet, a distance of about 40 miles (64 km). Its northern terminus used to be at U.S. Highway 34 in Brookfield.

Illinois 171 follows Cumberland Avenue south of Chicago, becomes 1st Avenue until it crosses the Cal-Sag Channel, Illinois and Michigan Canal, and Des Plaines River. It then follows Archer Avenue and parallels the river along the eastern bank until it terminates in Joliet. Illinois State Route 53 is the road that follows the river for some time on the western bank.
