Moiseyev established the Theatre of Folk Art in Moscow in 1936. Among about 200 dances he created for this company, we should mention the ones humorously representing the game of football and guerilla warfare. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, Moiseyev's work has been especially admired "for the balance that it maintained between authentic folk dance and theatrical effectiveness".
