Igby Goes Down
Igby Goes Down is a 2002 film that follows the life of Igby Slocumb. It is written and directed by Burr Steers. It is rated R by MPAA for language, sexuality and drug content.
Plot
Igby Goes Down follows the adventures of Igby Slocumb (Kieran Culkin) the dissatisfied son of a wealthy family, who after a series of less-than-satisfactory encounters with education, seeks solace in New York. This satirical black comedy also features Susan Sarandon as Mimi Slocumb, Igby's cold and calculating mother, Ryan Phillippe as Oliver Slocumb, his "fascist" older brother, a Columbia student for whom the most important thing is outward success; Bill Pullman as Jason Slocumb, his schizophrenic father; Jeff Goldblum as DH Banes, Igby's slimy godfather/benefactor and Claire Danes as Sookie Sapperstein, an older college student who falls into a romance with Igby. Amanda Peet also features as Rachel- DH's mistress who claims to be a dancer but is in fact a drug addict.
