If This World Were Mine
"If This World Were Mine" was originally a 1968 release by soul legends Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Written solely by Gaye, it was one of the few songs they recorded without Ashford & Simpson writing or producing. When it was released, it hit the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at #68 and peaked at #27 on Billboard's Hot Soul (R&B) Singles chart. Gaye would later put the song into his set list on his last concert tour in 1983.

Fourteen years later, Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn re-recorded it and made the song a Top 5 Billboard R&B smash peaking at #3 in 1982. To many listeners, Vandross and Lynn's take of the song is the most memorable. A decade later, Coko (formerly of the group SWV) and rising R&B star Tyrese recorded it for one of Tyrese's albums.
