I Am Me

I Am Me is the second album by singer Ashlee Simpson. The first single from the album is "Boyfriend," which Simpson has denied is about her alleged affair with Lindsay Lohan's ex-boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama. Initially, the first single was planned to be "L.O.V.E.", and the album was originally titled In Another Life. It is set for release on October 18, 2005 (see 2005 in music).

"Beautifully Broken" is said to deal with Simpson's Saturday Night Live incident. "L.O.V.E." is about girls going out and having fun without needing any guys.

Simpson worked with John Shanks and Kara DioGuardi on this album, as she did on her first album, 2004's Autobiography. "Boyfriend" officially hit radio on September 6 and its airplay rapidly increased afterward; its music video premiered on MTV's Making the Video on September 12. To promote the album and single, Simpson has tour dates scheduled from September 21 into October, in addition to several notable television appearances, including a return to Saturday Night Live on October 8 and an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show on October 13. She will also be on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Simpson performed songs from the album ("Boyfriend" and "I Am Me") for Sessions@AOL on the Internet. The album will be available on MTV.com's "The Leak" in the week prior to its release, beginning October 11.
