Hungarian minority in Romania
The Hungarian Minority in Romania is mostly situated in the center and western part of Romania (Ardeal, Banat, Cri?ana and Maramure? regions, of the former Transylvania principality).

The Hungarian population in Romania makes up approximately 20 percent of the population of Transylvania and 6.6 percent of the total population, or 1,431,807 citizens, and is the largest minority in Romania and one of the largest minorities in Europe.

The Szeklers form a majority in the counties of Harghita and Covasna; they were organised in a Szekely land during the Austro-Hungary empire, that also comprised parts of present-day Mure? county, including Tārgu Mure?).
