Hot dog

A hot dog is the term for either a type of sausage or, alternatively, a sandwich with the bun and sausage. Hot Dogs are also called frankfurters, frankfurts, or franks, after the city of Frankfurt, Germany, a wiener, after the city of Vienna, Austria, or sarcastically as tube steaks, illustrating that hot dogs are typically among the cheapest meat products one can obtain.

Trivia

Hot dogs are the most widely consumed form of sausage in America. Scandinavia, especially Denmark, is famous for its hot dogs, as is Chicago as well as a number of American parks. In Toronto, Canada, hotdogs are the only kind of street food allowed by law . The law sets extremely high (almost unachievable) requirements for street-food vendors, with an exception for hot dogs, resulting in greater competition between vendors and an excellent quality the city's hot dogs.
