Hostess is a brand of the Interstate Bakeries Corporation in the United States, known for its sugary snacks Twinkies, Ding Dongs, HoHos, SuzyQ's, Sno Balls, Donettes, Mini Muffins, and Hostess Fruit Pies.

In 1925, the Taggart Bakery was selling a new brand of white bread called Wonder Bread. The Continental Baking Company purchased Taggart and began selling Wonder nationwide, and invented Hostess Cakes as an additional brand to increase the company's popularity with retail vendors.

The Twinkie was invented for Hostess by Jimmy Dewar in 1930, and became popular during the Great Depression. Its original banana filling was switched to vanilla creme after a banana shortage during World War II.
