Horwich


 
 

Horwich (pronounced "Horrich") is a town in Greater Manchester, England, half way between Bolton and Chorley. The landscape of the area is dominated by Winter Hill and the West Pennine Moors. It was once the site of the locomotive works of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. The resident population of Horwich, as measured in the 2001 Census, was 14,343 of which 48 per cent were male and 52 per cent were female. In 1891 the population was 12,850.
