Hooters Girl

A Hooters Girl is a female waitress employed by the Hooters restaurant chain. It is generally thought that Hooters Girls are chosen for their breast size, but in fact are usually chosen for all-around good looks and if small-chested may be asked to pad their bras. They are famous for their officially approved uniform, which originally consisted of a white cotton T-shirt tank top with the front Hooters name and owl logo with the location name on the front paired with the famously short orange runners' shorts. The famous shorts utilized 70s-era dolphin track shorts. The T-shirt was pulled very tight and tied in a very tight knot in the back that emphasized the breasts. For years, this knot tieing was a Hooters ritual before opening. Later, Hooters changed to a tight white spandex top that eliminated the knot-tieing and was longer lasting than a cotton T-shirt. Fortunately, for the girls, it was also less transparent when it got wet. The company also began using other colors and designs for their tops. Frequently using some scheme such as a camouflage theme on Monday ("Military Mondays"), black on Friday ("Formal Fridays"), and white the other days. These alternate uniforms also use black, or camouflage green shorts. The remainder of the Hooters uniform is shiny suntan pantyhose and white tennis shoes, often of the Skechers brand name.

The uniform includes the logo, which consists of the word "Hooters" with a cartoon owl positioned so that the pupils of the owl's eyes are framed by the two O's.
