The 《香港商報》 is a broadsheet business-oriented general newspaper with close ties to mainland China. Established in 1952, it is one of the few newspapers authorized by the Hong Kong SAR to print legal announcements, and also the only Hong Kong-based newspaper allowed to circulate freely in mainland China. It aims to help the Hong Kong people understand the mainland Chinese economy, and mainland Chinese readers to understand both Hong Kong and foreign economies.

In addition to weekly supplements on various lifestyle/culture topics (e.g. cosmetics), the newspaper would occasionally have special features on social, historical, or political events, collect these features later, and publish them in book form.
