Honey West made her first television appearance in a 1965 episode of the series, Burke's Law. The character, portrayed by Anne Francis was popular enough that the ABC network spun her off into her own eponymous series during the 1965-1966 season. Executive produced by Aaron Spelling, the series was an attempt to capitalize upon the popularity of strong female heroes such as Emma Peel and Modesty Blaise, but the series was not a popular success and was cancelled after only one season.
