Home Islands
The Home Islands refers to the four main islands of Japan: Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku, and Hokkaido. The term is not in common usage in the present day; it was used at the end of World War II to define the area of Japan to which its sovereignty and the constitutional rule of the Emperor would be restricted.
