Holyport

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Holyport neighbours the older and more famous village of Bray. However it has a few claims to fame of its own. It has one of the world's few real tennis courts (Royal County of Berkshire Real Tennis Club), where Prince Edward first met his wife-to-be, Sophie Rhys-Jones. It has prestigious stables, where Queen Elizabeth II is rumoured to have ridden in her younger years. Joan Collins filmed an advertisement in Holyport some years back, and it is the current residence of veteran BBC TV presenter Frank Bough. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Despite commonly being regarded as in or near Maidenhead, both Holyport and Bray lie within the Windsor electoral constituency.
