Hole, Norway

Hole is a municipality in the county of Buskerud, Norway.

Hole is considered as part of the landscape of Ringerike, not to be confused with the municipality of Ringerike. Hole is located around lake Tyrifjorden and extends to the wooodland around Oslo. The soil is perfect for growing fruit, berries and other agricultural products.

Hole includes a lot of historical places, like some old churches. It also includes Stein farm, which is connected with the king Halfdan the Black. According to the tradition, parts of his body was buried in the mound there.

Hole is known as one of the traditional landscapes from the viking age. Bønsnes kirke (church) from ca 12th century tall Frognøya and Størøya are important historical places in Hole.

From the viewpoint "Kongens utsikt" which lies on Krokskogen, you can have a spectacular view of the cultural landcape in Hole, Many of the fairy tales from Asbjørnsen and Moe is gathered from tgis particular area.

In Hole there are good opportunities for outdoor activities. During the winter there are plenty of ski tracks, and the rest of the year there are lots of room for hiking, boattrips, bathing and fishing. In the lake Tyrifjorden, Storøen Golfcourse lies. It is said to be one of the finest and best courses in Norway.

Vik is the municipality center, and Sundvollen, Kroksund, Sollihøgda, Helgelandsmoen, Røyse and Steinsåsen are smaller centras in the municipality.

The current mayor is Per Ragnvald Berger (October 18th 1952), representing Høyre, the right-wing Conservatives in a coaliton with Senterpartiet and Kristelig Folkeparti. Elected for the period 2003-2007, he is in for his second period.

Måltrostlia in Kroksund: in folk terms the place is usually refered to as "Dollar Hills" (Dollar-Åsen) - mainly for its high presentage of right wing rich people. Ther average income of a typical habitant tends to be up to 12% of the standard wages in the district.
