Hohenzollern-Hechingen

Hohenzollern-Hechingen is a branch of the senior Swabian branch of the Hohenzollern dynasty, less known however than the Franconian branch which became Burgraves of Nuremberg and later ruled Brandenburg, Prussia and ultimately Germany in the centuries to 1918. The Princes of Hohenzollern-Hechingen ruled over a small principality in southwest Germany. The principality was a member state of the German Confederation between 1815 and 1850. In between from 1848 until 1849 it was part of the shortlasting German Empire. In 1850 it is incorporated into Prussia. Nowadays it is part of the Federal Republic of Germany.
