Hisarlik


 
 

Hisarlik is the modern Turkish name for the ancient site of Troy, located in what is now Turkey.

Railroad engineer John Brunton and amateur archaeologist Frank Calvert suspected Hisarlik as the site of Troy, but both lacked the influence and resources to pursue their theroies. Later excavations lead by Heinrich Schliemann confirmed Brunton and Calvert's suspicions.
