Hirschau is a municipality in the district of Oberpfalz (Upper Palatinate) in Bavaria, Germany. It is located about 70 km east of Nuremberg.

Its sites of interest includes Monte Kaolino that is 120 m high (about 561 m above sea level) and 32,000,000 tons of quartz.

Mining has been common since 1901 and the quartz sand and Kaolin is also used for the production of porcelain and paper.

It is also used as a skiing resort during summer months.
