Hervey Bay is a rapidly growing resort city and Local Government Area in south eastern Queensland, Australia. City population is 43,298 (Census 2001), with the city covering an area of 2,356 square kilometres, under the administrative control of the Hervey Bay City Council.

The city is situated on the shores of the South Pacific Ocean, and is only a short distance from Fraser Island, the world's largest sand island.
