Hero (Mariah Carey song)

"Hero" is a single by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, the second from her fourth album, Music Box. Released in the fourth quarter of 1993 (see 1993 in music), it peaked at number one in the United States, becoming Carey's eighth number one single. The single also reached number seven in the U.K., and was a large success in other markets. It was co-written and co-produced by Carey and Walter Afanasieff, and is one of Carey's signature songs. In "Hero", Carey reminds us all that even though we may feel stupid or down at times, in reality we are all "heroes" if we look inside ourselves and see our own inner strength. The song was nominated for the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, but lost.
