Helena Kennedy, Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws

Helena Ann Kennedy, Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws (born 12 May, 1950) is a Labour member of the House of Lords. She was made a Life Peer in 1997 as Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws, of Cathcart in the City of Glasgow.

She is a barrister and chairs the Human Genetics Commission (which advises the UK government on ethical, social and legal issues arising from developments in genetic science). Until July 2004 she was the Chair of the British Council.
