Hawken has two campuses, the "Lower School" in Lyndhurst and the "Upper School" in Gates Mills. The school was founded in 1915 by its namesake, James A. Hawken. Hawken has a long-standing rivalry with nearby University School, difficult coursework, and good athletics (especially men's soccer and women's swimming).
