Haverhill is a city located in Essex County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 58,969. The name of the city is pronounced "hayvrill".

History

Haverhill was first settled in 1640 and was officially incorporated in 1641. The city was once was home to a large shoe making industry.
