Havelock Wilson
Joseph Havelock Wilson (1858?-1929) was a trade union leader, Liberal politician, and campaigner for the rights of merchant seamen. He was born in South Shields and began his trade union career in North-East England. He founded the National Sailors' and Firemen's Union in Sunderland in 1887 and remained president of the union until his death.
