Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra
The Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, or HRO, is (by some measures) the oldest symphony orchestra in the United States. It was founded in March of 1808 as the Pierian Sodality and was "dedicated to the consumption of brandy and cigars as well as the serenading of young ladies."

The orchestra currently exists as the largest of the orchestras at Harvard University and is composed entirely of Harvard Students. The orchestra plays four concerts every year in Sanders Theater on Harvard's campus. It's alumni board is still called the Pierian Sodality of 1808 and is comprised of past members whose duty it is to watch over the interests of the orchestra.
