Harrachov was founded as a village Doerfel (ethnic-German) in the 17th century. In 1714, it was renamed Harrachov after owner of the area, count Harrach. Contemporary Harrachov (town since 1973) was established after 1945 by joining originally independent settlements Nov? Sv?t and R??ovi?t? together with Harrachov. In 1959 the hamlet M?tiny was joined where nowadays there is a railway terminal of the route Tanvald ? Harrachov. This area belonged to Poland and was exchanged for the same large area to the north from Mrtv? vrch.
