It is home to the Hanwell Community centre or otherwise known as the London district school. The school used to teach Charlie Chaplin for a term. The community centre has also been used in movies, including some of the boxing scenes in Billy Elliot. Hanwell is also know for Boston Manor and Hanwell lock and the clock tower at the junction of the Uxbridge road and Boston Manor Road. Boston Manor was home to part of the Royal Family until the owner died, it is now a park and tourist attraction. However, technically Boston Manor is not in Hanwell.
