Hans Adam von Schöning

1641-1696. Cantankerous soldier in Brandenburg and Saxon service who distinguished himself in the Turkish Wars and the Nine Years War against France, but was more famous for his quarrel with General von Barfus, and was eventually arrested for supposedly plotting to bring Saxony over to the French. He was well connected by marriage, his uncle being Field Marshal von Derfflinger and his daughter being married to Col. Count von Blumenthal, a nephew of Field Marshal von Dünewald and brother-in-law of General von Schlippenbach. His descendants included Field marshal von Wrangel and the rocket scientist, Wernher von Braun.
