Hanover, Pennsylvania
Hanover is a borough located in York County, Pennsylvania, 19 miles (31 km) southwest of York and 54 miles (87 km) north-northwest of Baltimore, Md. It is situated in a productive agricultural region. Hanover was settled about 1730, and incorporated in 1815. In the past, its manufactures included the making of cigars, gloves, silks, flavine, water wheels, flour, shirts, shoes, machine-shop products, furniture, wire cloth, and ironstone grinders. In 1900, 5,320 people lived there; in 1910, 7,057 lived there;, and in 1940, 13,076 people lived there. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 14,535.
