Hadith
Hadith ({{lang-ar|الحديث}}, Arabic pl. ahadith; in English academic usage, hadith is often both singular and plural) are traditions relating to the sayings and doings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and his companions, or sahaba. Hadith collections are regarded as important tools for determining the Sunnah, or Muslim way of life, by all traditional schools of jurisprudence.
Hadith accepted by Shi'a Islam
Shi'a Muslims feel that hadith transmitted through scholars or collectors who rejected Ali ibn Abi Talib and his descendents are less reliable than hadith transmitted by those who remained true to Ali. They accept many of the Sunni hadith, but reject others. There is no one canonical hadith collection recognized by all Shi'a sects or teachers.
