(A related Hebrew word, She'Ol, for the abode of the dead also meant literally "unseen.") ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The corresponding Roman god was Pluto (from Greek ???????), Dis Pater or Orcus; the corresponding Etruscan god was Aita.
