Her second play, Behzti (meaning Dishonour) depicted murder and sex abuse in a Sikh temple. After violent protests against the play by Sikh groups on 18 December 2004 the Birmingham Repertory Theatre controversially cancelled the play. Death threats reportedly forced Bhatti to go into hiding.
