Gruesome Gertie

Gruesome Gertie was the name applied by death row inmates to the Louisiana electric chair. Until 1991, the U.S. state of Louisiana used the electric chair as its sole method of execution. Following new legislation, the State of Louisiana opted for the use of lethal injection as the sole method of execution.
