Groton is a town located on the Thames River in New London County, Connecticut. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 39,907.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 117.1 km² (45.2 mi²). 81.1 km² (31.3 mi²) of it is land and 36.0 km² (13.9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 30.75% water.
