Gronings
Gronings is the set of Dutch dialects spoken in the Dutch province of Groningen: one in Groningen city, four in the outlands (or Ommelanden), and Westerwolds. They are the result of an intermingling of 4 languages: Saxon (the result of 9th-century Saxon domination), Frisian (the result of Groningen having been governed by Friesland in the 12th century), Dutch, and (to a lesser extent) English .
