Granma
Granma is the ship that transported the fighters of the Cuban Revolution to Cuba in 1956. It is also the name of the official newspaper of the Cuban Communist Party and a Cuban province, which were named after the yacht. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

It was purchased from a retired American in 1956 and filled with 82 Cuban exiles under the leadership of Fidel Castro to start a revolution against Fulgencio Batista. Other rebels on the boat (known as expedicionarios del yate Granma) were Che Guevara and Ra?l Castro. They sailed from the Mexican port of Tuxpan, Veracruz, and landed on the shores of what is now Granma Province.
