Grand Remonstrance

The Grand Remonstrance was a list of 204 grievances, mostly religious, by the English Parliament against King Charles I of England during the Long Parliament's reign during the English Civil War. It reflected the mistrust of the King by Parliament. It only passed the House of Commons by 11 votes.

It condemned all of Charles I's ministers including Thomas Wentworth, 1st Earl of Strafford (executed 1641) and Archbishop Laud (beheaded 1645). It also abolished the court of star chamber, that Charles had introduced. Parliament passed this in 1641 without his permission and it also condemned the bishops and all of Laud's other religious reforms.
