- In 1971 it returned to being awarded as Best Sacred Performance (Musical)
- In 1972 it was awarded as Best Sacred Performance
- From 1973 to 1974 it was awarded as Best Inspirational Performance
- In 1975 it was awarded as Best Inspirational Performance (Non-Classical)
- From 1976 to 1986 it was again awarded as Best Inspirational Performance
Years reflect the year in which the Grammy Awards were presented, for works released in the previous year.
