Governorate
A governorate is a subnational entity. The term is mostly used to translate the Arabic muhafazah (plural muhafazat), also spelled mohafazah (mohafazat). It may also refer to the Governorates and Governor-Generalships of Imperial Russia ({{lang-ru|губерния}}, tr.: guberniya).
