Goshen, Indiana is a town of 29,383 people (As of the 2000 census). It is located about 100 miles east of Chicago, Illinois and 30 miles east of South Bend, Indiana in north-central Indiana. It is the county seat of Elkhart county. The town's preferred nickname is the Maple City.

As of the census{{GR|2}} of 2000, there are 29,383 people, 10,675 households, and 7,088 families residing in the city. The population density is 860.1/km² (2,227.7/mi²). There are 11,264 housing units at an average density of 329.7/km² (854.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 83.15% White, 1.53% Black or African American, 0.26% Native American, 1.10% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 12.00% from other races, and 1.94% from two or more races. 19.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
