Storyline

Goro became Grand Champion of Earthrealm after defeating the Great Kung Lao. For 500 years he remained undefeated and helped Shang Tsung realize his plans. In his 10th title defence, he faced Johnny Cage in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Cage pushed him to his limits and defeated the mighty Shokan and helped save Earth from Tsung's treachery. His defeat left him scarred with shame so during the Chaos following Shang Tsung's defeat, he escaped into Outworld where he vanished into obscurity (leading to his "apparent death" as mentioned in Mortal Kombat II).

After the downfall of Shao Kahn, Goro began to take an interest in the matters of his own race and fared war with the Centaurs, the Shokans' natural born enemies, until Princess Kitana intervened and negotiated both races through a truce and peace accord. Goro and his Shokan forces later attacked the weakened Shao Kahn's armies in a joint enterprise with Kitana's troops, but Goro was mortally wounded in combat by Noob Saibot, and eventually died. This sent the Shokan armies spiralling down into leaderless chaos, and caused the war between Edenia and Outworld to end in a draw.

However in the GameCube version of Mortal Kombat: Deception, Goro is seen as a playable character with an evil alignment once more. Shao Kahn rescued him and revived him. All that happened was that he fooled Kitana's army, probably to lure the Edenians into a trap set by Shao Kahn. He does not use melee attacks in Deception and has Dragon Blades for weapons.

So far, Goro in Deception's ending is where he betrays Kitana. Shao Kahn's ending links them both where they both kill Onaga.
