Glimpses of World History
Glimpses of World History is one of the best known works ofIndian Nationalist leader . The history it tells is the epic saga of humankind from 6000 BC|6000 BCE to the time the book was written in 1935. In the form of a series of letters to his daughter, Indira Gandhi, Glimpses is one of the first modern attempts at historiography from a non-Eurocentrism|Eurocentric angle.

The letters were written by Nehru during the periods he was imprisoned in various places by the British government and when all the reference material he had close by were the notes he had made while reading the great books.

The book contains about 196 letters written between 1930-1933. All these letters, though not a first hand reference on history, contain Nehru's personal remarks on all the "great" moments of history (elaborating on all the things he liked, in particular).

The book has also been compared to The History of the World by H.G. Wells and has become an Indian classic since.
