Glen
A glen is a valley, typically one that is long, deep, and secludded. The word comes from IrishScottish Gaelic word gleann. It occurs often in place names such as Great Glen and Glen Coe in Scotland, Glendalough in Ireland, Yarra Glen in Australia, and Glen Norman in Canada. As the name of a river, it is thought to derive from the Welsh glan meaning clean, or gleindid meaning purity.
