Giovanni Silva de Oliveira (also known as Giovanni or Gio), born 4 February 1972 in Belém, Brazil. Brazilian football player. Midfielder and striker.

Giovanni started his carrer with little known clubs Remo and São Carlense before moving to Brazilian top club Santos in 1995. After a great career in Santos FC, he moved to Spanish giants FC Barcelona in 1996. He was a first team regular for two seasons.

He moved to Olympiakos in the summer of 1999 and soon established himself as one of the best players in the Greek league.

A controversial player, he was loved for his amazing talent to dribble and lob the ball over the goalkeeper yet most fans thought he was too slow and not athletic enough for a player of his calibre (and his paycheck).

Even though he was the most expensive attacker to ever play for Olympiakos he was the leading goalscorer in Greece only in one season (2003-2004 season). After six seasons he left the Piraeus club in 2005 to return to São Paulo and Santos FC, where he will probably end his career.
